Our Professional 3 Stage Glycolic System

The David Deans 3- Stage Glycolic AHA System is a uniquely designed system that allows your skin therapist to provide a peel that is specifically designed for you. This is achieved by having three different concentration of Glycolic Acid (5 percent, 15 percent and 25 percent) in the products.

Different strengths of Glycolic Acid allow for greater diversity of treatment, targeting the individual client as personalized treatment plans general achieve the best results.

The David Deans 3- Stage Glycolic AHA System is also distinguished by its cream base (as opposed to the conventional and mostly harsher water based formulations). The cream formulation, with Vitamin E and hydrating ingredients, is a key factor in reducing the flaking and drying which is common with water-based peels. This unique formulation means even hyper-sensitive individuals can enjoy the benefits of a peel.

In addition to Glycolic Acid, the David Deans 3- Stage Glycolic AHA System contains a variety of AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acids), providing a synergistic effect, support for the chemical peel process and delivering enhanced results.

The skin’s cellular metabolism generally has a 40-day regenerative cycle - 28 days for cells to reach the surface and 12 days to slough off. However we need to keep in mind this isn’t the case for everyone. Those with severely dry, damaged skin usually have a thickened skin surface and those oily, acne prone types may have a thinner skin surface with a thick sebaceous layer on top.

This is where the David Deans 3- Stage Glycolic AHA System comes in. Beginning with Stage #1 the client’s skin actively renews and repairs. Gradually moving up to AHA Stage #2 and then AHA Stage #3, improved texture and condition becomes noticeable.

AHA works on de-encrustation of the built up skin layers. It is an effective yet subtle way of providing results without causing any corruption of the skin.

Glycolic Acid revitalises the skin by three different pathways:

Exfoliation

The natural process of desquamation (shedding of cells) declines with age because the glue-like structures that bind the dead layers of skin together harden. Therefore a stronger method of exfoliation is required. Glycolic Acid exfoliates by dissolving these glue-like structures (corneocyte cohesion) in the stratum corneum. Together, Glycolic Acid and other AHAs initiate the shedding of old cells to make room for new ones.

Proliferation

Both Glycolic and Lactic Acids have been shown to stimulate the growth of new cells. This increase in cellular division aids in the epidermal turnover, leading to revitalised skin. This new cell formation is also thought to thicken the epidermis, which is naturally decreased with age.

Collagen Production

Glycolic Acid has been shown to increase the formation of new cells and also to increase the activity of fibroblasts, which are responsible for the production of collagen fibers. Glycolic Acid has also been shown to increase the thickness and density of the collagen, another benefit for older skin which is generally thinner.
